All the main social media platforms are made to be addictive. They are not some utopia of great content and free exchange of ideas. They are revenue generating platforms for massive corporations. They cater to the limbic system (as Elon Musk remarked). The little red notifications are just like the sugar in Coca-cola and the salt in french fries. How many studies, articles and documentaries have to be made about this? (start with Tristan Harris’ work). But hey, social media is most of Gary’s business, so let’s blame the parents ;).
